One of my favorite demos! Most people have never seen ultra rare liquid carbon dioxide because it doesn’t exist at Earth’s atmosphere. But I get a sample to 5x atmospheric pressure so you can see it… before it pops and turns right back into dry ice.
As with all chemical reactions and phase changes, please leave this to the professionals. Anytime we build up a lot of pressure in a system that can always lead to a dangerous explosion!
By the way, I should’ve said “sublimate” instead of “sublime” Sublimate is the phase change from solid to gas. Sublime apparently works too, but a lot of people prefer the former.
